A Pinterest title generator turns a keyword, topic or link into pin titles you can paste straight into Pinterest. The best free one we found is SiteToSocial’s Pin Title & Description Generator. It’s the only one that checks Pinterest search data before it writes, and it gives you five pins, each built on a different keyword. Below: how it compares with six other free generators, what makes a title rank, and 30 formulas with examples.

The best free Pinterest title generators, compared

We lined up the free generators that rank for this search on the questions that decide whether a title can rank. Where does the keyword come from? What do you get back? Do you need an account?

Look at the third column. Only one of these tools checks search data before it writes; the others polish whatever keyword you hand them. That’s fine when you already know your keyword. When you don’t, it’s a guess with nice wording.

1. SiteToSocial: keyword research first, then the writing

Paste a page URL, or just a topic like “easy weeknight dinners”, and pick a language. SiteToSocial reads the page, looks up the phrases people search on Pinterest and writes five pins, each on a different keyword, which it prints under the pin. Titles stay within 100 characters and descriptions within 500, with a counter on each.

Its own published samples show what that means in practice. For a post called “Small Living Room Ideas: 9 Ways to Make It Feel Bigger” it wrote 9 Small Living Room Ideas That Make a Tiny Space Feel Bigger, then aimed the other four pins at “make small room look bigger”, “small apartment living room”, “space saving furniture” and “mirror decor ideas”. One post, five searches it can be found for.

It’s free for 3 uses a day without an account, or 6 with a free one. Pick one of 30 languages and the keywords are researched in that language, not translated from English, which matters a lot if your blog is in German or Spanish.

2. RecurPost: handy for agencies

Describe the pin, choose a tone (there are ten, from Educational to Curiosity-driven), add keywords if you have them, and you get a batch of keyword-first titles. No signup needed. RecurPost says plainly that the tool doesn’t pull search volume, so finding the keyword is still your job. The titles you pick can go straight into RecurPost’s scheduler, which suits anyone juggling several client accounts.

3. RightBlogger: the most dials to turn

Feed it a URL or topic, the keywords to include, a tone, a target audience and a creativity level, then pick from more than 100 languages. It writes the title and description together. That language list is longer than SiteToSocial’s, but the copy is written in your language around keywords you supply, not keywords researched for that market.

Also fine for brainstorming: Postiz, Musely, Mailmodo and Publer

All four are free and quick. Postiz also writes descriptions and board descriptions, and Musely gives you the most settings, including character control. Mailmodo and Publer keep it simple: a topic, maybe a tone, then copy and paste. None of them knows what people search, so type your favourite result into the Pinterest search bar before you use it. If nothing similar autocompletes, keep looking.

What makes a good Pinterest title?

A good Pinterest title starts with the exact phrase people search and then gives them a reason to tap. Everything else is detail, but the details are where most titles go wrong:

  • Keyword inside the first 40 characters. Pinterest allows 100, yet on many phones the feed cuts titles at roughly 40. A keyword at the end is one nobody sees.
  • The searched phrase, word for word. People type “small living room ideas”. Nobody types “ways to make your compact lounge work harder”.
  • A concrete promise. A number, a time (“30 minutes”), an audience (“for beginners”) or a result (“feel bigger”).
  • Plain over clever. “Weeknight Magic” is cute and invisible. “One Pan Lemon Garlic Chicken (30 Minutes)” gets found.
  • True to the page. If the post has 9 ideas, don’t promise 25. People who feel tricked don’t save, and saves are what keep a pin circulating.

How long should a Pinterest title be?

Pinterest pin titles can be up to 100 characters, but 40 to 70 is the useful range. That leaves room for the keyword plus a promise while keeping the important half visible after the feed cuts it. SiteToSocial’s published sample titles, for comparison, land between 50 and 61 characters. The limits for every other field are in our Pinterest character limits table.

Find the keyword before you generate anything

A generator can’t fix a bad keyword. Spend two minutes here first:

  1. Type your topic into Pinterest’s search bar and read the autocomplete. Those suggestions are real, popular searches. The colored chips under the results show how people narrow them down (“fall nails” → “simple”, “short”, “almond”).
  2. Check the season in Pinterest Trends. It tells you whether a phrase is rising, flat or seasonal, so you can publish a month or so before the peak. Our Pinterest Trends guide shows how to read it.
  3. Get numbers from a keyword tool. SiteToSocial’s free Pinterest keyword tool lists phrases with monthly searches from Pinterest’s own ads data. The other options are in our Pinterest keyword tool comparison.

Three pin titles, before and after

Before: My cozy little corner makeover

After: Small Living Room Ideas: 9 Ways to Make It Feel Bigger

Why it works: opens with a phrase people search, then adds a number and a payoff.

Before: Tuesday night dinner!!

After: One Pan Lemon Garlic Chicken Thighs Ready in 30 Minutes

Why it works: the dish, the method and the time. All three are things people type.

Before: New in the shop ✨

After: Hammered Gold Hoop Earrings: Lightweight Hoops for Everyday Wear

Why it works: names the product the way shoppers search for it, then adds the detail that sells it.

Should the pin title match the text on the image?

The pin title and the image headline should share the keyword, but they don’t have to be identical. The overlay is for someone scrolling with their thumb, so four to eight big words. The title is read by Pinterest search and can carry more. “Fall Nail Ideas” on the image and “12 Easy Fall Nail Ideas You Can Do at Home” as the title is a good pair. What you can’t do is promise one thing on the image and another in the title. Our guide to Pinterest text overlay has 36 image headlines.

Can you use the same title on several pins?

You can, but it wastes the extra pins. Pinterest favors fresh pins, and each new pin for the same page is another chance to rank for a different search. So give each one its own keyword: “fall nail ideas” first, then “autumn nail designs”, then “simple fall nails”. SiteToSocial’s generator splits its five pins exactly this way. The paid tools that keep doing it for every page are compared in our ranking of the best Pinterest automation tools.

Three habits that quietly sink titles

  • Pasting the blog post title. Blog titles are written for Google. Pinterest users often search different words for the same thing.
  • Shouting. ALL CAPS, chains of emojis and “!!!” make the title look spammy, and they eat characters you need for the keyword.
  • Hashtags in the title. They don’t help there. If you use hashtags, put them at the end of the description.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Pinterest title generator?

SiteToSocial's free Pin Title & Description Generator is the best one we found. It researches keywords with Pinterest search data before it writes, builds each of its five pins on a different keyword and works in 30 languages. RecurPost and RightBlogger are good second choices if you already know your keyword.

Is there a free Pinterest title generator?

Yes. SiteToSocial's AI generator is free for 3 uses a day without signing up (6 with a free account), and RecurPost, RightBlogger, Postiz, Musely, Mailmodo and Publer all have free generators too.

How many characters can a Pinterest title have?

A Pinterest pin title can have up to 100 characters. On many phones the feed shows only about the first 40, so put the keyword at the start and keep most titles between 40 and 70 characters.

Do Pinterest titles help SEO?

Yes. The title is one of the main fields Pinterest search reads to decide which searches a pin can show up for, together with the description, alt text and board name. A title that opens with the exact phrase people search has the best chance.

Should I put hashtags or emojis in a Pinterest title?

Leave hashtags out of the title. If you use them at all, they go at the end of the description. One emoji won't hurt, but it uses up characters and does nothing for search.

Are AI-generated Pinterest titles good?

They are only as good as the keyword underneath. AI titles built on a phrase people really search can rank. Catchy AI titles with no keyword research often sound fine and match nothing anyone types.

Can I edit the titles a generator gives me?

Yes, and you usually should. Every generator here gives you plain text to copy. After editing, check that the keyword is still near the start and the title still fits in 100 characters.
