You can auto post to Pinterest from WordPress in five ways, from Pinterest’s free RSS auto-publish to tools that design keyword-researched pins for every post you’ve ever written. The free way covers new posts only and uses whatever image your feed has. If you want your whole archive pinned with proper 2:3 pins, SiteToSocial reads your WordPress sitemap and does exactly that, from $10 a month.

Which option fits you

  • Free, new posts only: Pinterest’s RSS auto-publish.
  • Every post, designed pins, keywords: SiteToSocial (sitemap-based).
  • Share to many networks from WordPress: FS Poster or Blog2Social.
  • Build your own flow: Zapier, Pabbly or IFTTT.

1. SiteToSocial: every post, as proper pins

Instead of waiting for new posts in a feed, SiteToSocial reads your WordPress sitemap and lists every post and page. You untick what you don’t want pinned. Each day it picks the next page, finds the phrase people search on Pinterest for it, writes the title and description, designs a tall pin from the photos in the post (or an AI image on the Premium plans) and posts it to the best-matching board. A 300-post food blog gets fresh pins for recipes from 2019, not just last Tuesday’s. Every page gets a pin before any page gets a second one, and each page can collect up to 100 different pins over time.

  1. Find your sitemap: /wp-sitemap.xml, or /sitemap_index.xml with Yoast or Rank Math.
  2. Add it to SiteToSocial and choose the pages.
  3. Connect Pinterest on Pinterest’s own approval screen.
  4. Set a daily limit and boards. New account? The 12-day warm-up switches on.

2. Pinterest’s free RSS auto-publish

Pinterest can turn your WordPress feed into pins on its own. You need a business account and a claimed website first (see our business account guide).

  1. Open your Pinterest settings and find the option to import content or bulk create pins.
  2. Paste your feed URL: usually yoursite.com/feed/.
  3. Choose the board those pins should go to. You can add more feeds for more boards, such as a category feed like yoursite.com/category/recipes/feed/.
  4. Wait. New posts turn into pins within a day or two, up to 200 a day.

The catch is the image and text. Pinterest uses what’s in the feed, which for most themes is a wide featured image and the post title. Those pins are allowed but weak: small in the feed, with titles written for Google rather than Pinterest. And the feed only holds your latest posts, so the archive never gets pinned.

3. WordPress plugins: FS Poster, Blog2Social and others

FS Poster is a paid plugin (one-time license options) that auto-posts new WordPress content to Pinterest and 26+ other networks, with a schedule planner, custom message formats, bulk scheduling and re-sharing of old posts. Blog2Social does similar cross-posting with a free version and premium plans. Both are good if Pinterest is one channel among many. Neither researches Pinterest keywords or designs 2:3 pins from your content.

Before installing any posting plugin, check how it connects to Pinterest. Use plugins that send you to Pinterest to approve access. Older plugins that ask for your Pinterest password put the account at risk; see Is Pinterest automation safe?

4. Pin Generator’s WordPress plugin

Pin Generator connects to WordPress and turns posts into designed pins with AI titles, descriptions and keyword targeting, then schedules them. It’s capable, but every action costs credits, so the monthly price climbs with volume and AI images. Our Pin Generator comparison runs the numbers.

5. Zapier, Pabbly and IFTTT

All three can watch WordPress for new posts and create a pin: title, link and featured image straight across. Zapier and Pabbly also let you add a step in between, for example an AI step that rewrites the title. IFTTT’s free tier checks for new posts roughly once an hour. These are workflow tools, though: they move data, they don’t design pins. For bigger custom flows see Make and n8n for Pinterest.

Set WordPress up for Pinterest first

  • Rich Pins: turn on Open Graph in Yoast SEO or Rank Math, then test a post with a Rich Pins validator.
  • Tall images in posts: one 2:3 image (1000 x 1500) per post gives every method something good to pin. Sizes are in the Pinterest image size guide.
  • A Save button: Pinterest’s widget builder or a plugin like Tasty Pins lets readers pin from your site, with the description you choose.
  • No nopin tags on pages you want pinned. Some privacy plugins add them.
  • Claim your website in Pinterest so your pins carry your domain.

For bloggers who want the archive working, not just the latest post, sitemap-based automation is the clear winner. That’s why SiteToSocial tops our list of the best Pinterest automation tools.

Frequently asked questions

How do I automatically post WordPress posts to Pinterest?

The free way is Pinterest's auto-publish: in your Pinterest business settings, connect your WordPress RSS feed and pick a board, and new posts become pins within a day or two. For designed, keyword-researched pins of old and new posts, use a sitemap-based tool such as SiteToSocial.

Will auto-posting pin my old WordPress posts?

RSS-based methods only see new items in your feed, so your archive is ignored. Tools that read your sitemap, like SiteToSocial, rotate through every page you choose, including posts from years ago.

Is there a WordPress plugin that posts to Pinterest?

Yes. FS Poster and Blog2Social can share WordPress posts to Pinterest, and Pin Generator has a WordPress plugin. Check how each connects: use only plugins that send you to Pinterest to approve access rather than asking for your password.

Where is my WordPress sitemap?

WordPress has a built-in sitemap at /wp-sitemap.xml. With Yoast SEO or Rank Math it is usually /sitemap_index.xml. Paste that address into a sitemap-based tool to import every post.

Which image does Pinterest use for auto-published pins?

Usually your post's featured image from the RSS feed, which is often a wide 16:9 photo that looks small on Pinterest. Use tall 2:3 pin images instead, or a tool that designs them for you.

How do I get Rich Pins from WordPress?

Turn on Open Graph output in Yoast SEO or Rank Math, check a post with a Rich Pins validator and make sure no plugin adds a nopin tag.
