A Pinterest bio generator writes the About text on your profile from your website or a few words about your account. For bios built on the phrases people actually search, plus display name ideas, use SiteToSocial’s free Pinterest Bio Generator. It’s the best of the free options we compared, and the rest are in the table below.

1. SiteToSocial: bios people can find

Paste your website and SiteToSocial checks what people search on Pinterest for your topic before it writes anything. You get five bios from different angles and five display names, each under 160 characters so they read cleanly on a phone. For a small living room blog post, one of its published samples read: “Small apartment living room? Get simple, renter-friendly ideas for space saving furniture, light colors, and rugs that make your room look bigger.” Specific, searchable, and it sounds like a person.

2. ContentStudio: pick a tone

Describe your account in a few words, choose a tone and get several options. Quick and clean. Its page also has decent examples by niche. The keywords are whatever you type in, so bring your own.

3–6. RecurPost, PostPlanify, Postiz and Publer

All free. RecurPost writes a single draft and doesn’t count characters, so check the length yourself. PostPlanify and Postiz keep bios to 160 characters and split personal from business accounts. Publer is the simplest of the lot: type a few words, copy a bio. None of these looks up Pinterest search data.

How long can a Pinterest bio be?

A Pinterest bio can be up to 500 characters. That’s the limit on the About field in your profile settings. So why do so many generators stop at 160? Because on a phone, people see only the opening line or two before they decide whether to follow. Our advice: aim for 100 to 200 characters and put the keyword in the first sentence. Use the rest of the 500 only if you have something specific to add, like what you post each week.

What makes a good Pinterest bio?

  • Who it’s for. “For busy parents”, “for renters”, “for first-time brides”. It filters in the right followers.
  • What they’ll find. Recipes, outfit formulas, itineraries, products.
  • One or two searched phrases, inside a real sentence. Profiles can show up in Pinterest search too. A Pinterest keyword tool will tell you which phrases people use.
  • A reason to follow. “New recipes every week” or “Shop the looks from our handmade collection”.

That’s it. Your story, your awards and your favorite coffee order can wait for the About page on your website.

Display name and username: two more places for a keyword

The bio isn’t the only text on your profile. Two other fields sit above it, and neither one eats into the bio’s 500 characters.

FieldLimitWhat works
Display nameKeep it short enough not to wrapBrand plus a keyword: “Maple Kitchen | Easy Dinners”
Username3 to 30 characters: letters, numbers, underscoresYour brand, easy to spell. It becomes your profile URL.
Bio (About)500 charactersWho it’s for, what they’ll find, one or two searched phrases

Then name your boards after real searches with the board name generator, and the whole profile tells Pinterest the same story.

Business bio or personal bio?

The limit is the same for both. A business bio has a different job, though: say what you sell or offer, who it’s for and why they should follow. A personal bio can be looser. If you’re a blogger or shop owner, use a business account. You get analytics and website claiming, and our Pinterest business account guide walks through the switch.

Your Pinterest bio is not your Instagram bio

On Instagram, people read your bio after they’ve already found you, so jokes, emoji strings and a link stack make sense. Pinterest works more like a search engine (our Pinterest SEO guide explains how), and your profile can come up when someone searches your topic. So lead with words people search. Keep emojis to one or two if you like them. Skip hashtags. Your link goes in the website field, not the bio.

How to add or edit your Pinterest bio

  1. Open your profile and click Edit profile (on desktop it’s also under the menu at the top right).
  2. Find the About field. That’s your bio.
  3. Paste your bio and check the character counter.
  4. Update the display name while you’re there, then click Save.

Update the bio whenever your focus changes, like a new product line or a new niche. A bio that still says “baking blog” on a profile full of travel pins confuses people and Pinterest alike.

Frequently asked questions

How long can a Pinterest bio be?

A Pinterest bio, the About field in your profile settings, can be up to 500 characters. Many tools keep bios to about 160 characters because only the first line or two show at a glance on a phone, and that is a sensible target.

What makes a good Pinterest bio?

A good Pinterest bio says who the account is for, what they will find and uses one or two phrases people search. "Easy weeknight dinners for busy families" works; "Welcome to my page!" tells nobody anything.

Should I use keywords in my Pinterest bio?

Yes, one or two in a natural sentence. Pinterest profiles can appear in search, and the bio helps Pinterest understand your account. A comma-separated list of keywords reads like spam.

Can I use emojis or hashtags in a Pinterest bio?

An emoji or two is fine if it fits your brand, but it adds nothing for search. Leave hashtags out: they take space and don't make the profile easier to find.

How often should I update my Pinterest bio?

Update it when your focus changes: a new niche, a new product line, a new season for a seasonal shop. Change your board names at the same time so the whole profile tells the same story.

What is the difference between a Pinterest bio and a board description?

The bio describes your whole account and sits on your profile. A board description describes one board and helps the pins on it get matched to searches. Both should use keywords, but each board gets its own.

What is the best Pinterest bio generator?

SiteToSocial's free Pinterest Bio Generator is the best we found: it gives you five bios and five display names built on keywords people search on Pinterest, in 30 languages. ContentStudio is a good free alternative if you want to choose a tone.
