Most Pinterest schedulers still post only the images you give them. A small group now makes the picture too: you choose a page or a prompt, and the tool generates the image, writes the pin and books it. Here’s how the Pinterest schedulers that use AI-generated images compare on what they make, what each image costs and how much is left for you to do, plus the cases where an AI image is the wrong choice for a pin.

Quick answer

  • Hands-off, AI images included: SiteToSocial’s Premium plans, from $29 a month for 5 AI images a day.
  • Most control over the design: Pin Generator, which charges 12 to 24 credits per AI image.
  • Already pay for Canva: generate in Canva, schedule from Canva’s Content Planner.
  • Cheapest at low volume: a Make, Pabbly or n8n workflow with an image model.

Prices for SiteToSocial, Pin Generator and Canva come from their pricing pages, which we checked on 22 October 2026. RecurPost and PostEverywhere aren’t in our scored ranking yet, so their features are as their own sites describe them.

1. SiteToSocial: AI images only where a page needs them

SiteToSocial is our first pick here for the same reason it leads our overall ranking: the image is one step in a routine it runs for you. On the $10 Standard plan, pins are designed from your page’s own photos. The Premium plans add AI images, 5 a day on Premium Lite ($29), 10 on Premium ($39) and every pin on Premium+ ($49), up to 15 pins a day per website. Pages with good photos keep using them, and pages without get an AI image instead. Each pin is still built on a phrase checked against Pinterest’s search data, written for you and posted through the day.

The trade-off: you don’t prompt every image yourself, and there’s no hand editor. If you want to art-direct each pin, the next option suits you better. More in our SiteToSocial review.

2. Pin Generator: the most control, paid per image

Pin Generator generates AI images inside the same automations that pull from your sitemap, feed or product catalog, and its dynamic templates keep the result on brand. Everything costs credits: 1 to schedule a pin, extra for AI text and SEO targeting, and 12 to 24 for each AI image. At 15 AI pins a day, images alone can use 5,400 to 10,800 credits a month, so check which plan covers your volume before you start. It also handles video pins, which no other tool here does. Details in Pin Generator alternatives.

3. Canva: generate, design and schedule in one place

If you already design pins in Canva, its AI image generator and Content Planner cover the whole loop: generate an image, place your headline on a Pinterest template and schedule the finished design to a board. It’s the best editor on this list. It isn’t automation, though. Every image is prompted, every pin designed and every post scheduled by you, one design at a time.

4. RecurPost and 5. PostEverywhere: social schedulers with an image generator

Both are multi-network schedulers that added AI images. RecurPost lists an AI image generator in its dashboard next to AI-written pin titles and descriptions, plus bulk uploads from a CSV file or Google Sheet. PostEverywhere offers an image generator that works from text prompts and bulk scheduling from CSV. Both suit people who post to several networks and want images on demand. Neither researches Pinterest keywords, so the searched phrase is still yours to find; a Pinterest keyword tool helps.

6. Build your own: an image model plus Make, Pabbly or n8n

The do-it-yourself route is popular because it’s cheap. A typical workflow reads a row from Google Sheets, sends its title to an image model such as OpenAI’s or FLUX, takes the image URL that comes back and creates the pin with a Pinterest action. Make and Pabbly have Pinterest modules; n8n reaches Pinterest through its API. You pay the workflow tool’s tier plus a fee per image.

Three things these builds often get wrong. The image comes back square unless you ask for a tall 2:3 format. Prompts built only from a title produce generic pictures, so add the style and subject. And there’s no review step unless you add one: a “pending” column you approve keeps odd images off your profile. Our guide to Make and n8n for Pinterest has a working setup.

When AI images hurt your pins

Pinterest allows AI images, but it also labels images it detects as AI-generated or AI-modified, and people can choose to see fewer AI pins in some categories, such as beauty and art. That doesn’t make AI images bad. It makes them a poor fit for some pins:

Pin typeAI image?Why
Products and shop listingsUse real photosBuyers expect the exact item
RecipesUse real photosThe finished dish has to look achievable
Travel and real placesUse real photosAn invented view breaks trust on arrival
Concepts, tips, quotes, guidesWorks wellThe idea matters more than a literal photo
Backgrounds behind textWorks wellThe headline does the work

That’s why a mixed approach, real photos where a page has them and AI images where it doesn’t, usually beats AI on every pin. More on the label in AI Pinterest pin generators.

What to check before you choose

  • Images per day, not per month. A plan with 100 AI images a month covers about 3 pins a day.
  • Cost per image. Credit systems hide it; work it out for your daily volume.
  • Tall output. Pins should be 2:3, ideally 1000 x 1500 pixels.
  • Text and keyword included. An image without a searched title is half a pin.
  • A review option. Useful for the first weeks, until you trust the output.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Pinterest scheduler generate images with AI?

Some can. SiteToSocial's Premium plans generate AI images for pins and post them, Pin Generator creates AI images for credits and schedules them, Canva Pro pairs its AI image generator with a Pinterest scheduler, and RecurPost lists an AI image generator in its dashboard. Most schedulers, including Buffer, Later and Pinterest's own, only post images you upload.

Does Pinterest allow AI-generated images?

Yes. Pinterest allows them but labels images it detects as AI-generated or AI-modified, and people can choose to see fewer AI pins in some categories. Real photos remain the better choice for products, recipes and places, where people expect to see the actual thing.

What is the cheapest way to schedule pins with AI images?

A do-it-yourself workflow is cheapest at low volume: a free tier of Make, Pabbly or n8n plus pay-per-image fees from an image model. For hands-off daily pins, SiteToSocial's Premium Lite plan includes 5 AI images a day for $29 a month, keyword research, writing and posting included.

Do AI images get less reach on Pinterest?

Pinterest hasn't said that labeled AI images rank lower. The risks are indirect: some people filter AI pins out in certain categories, and an AI image that doesn't match the page it links to loses the click. Use AI images where a real photo isn't needed, such as concepts, backgrounds and ideas.

Can I post AI images with Pinterest's own scheduler?

Yes. Make the image in any AI tool, export it at 1000 x 1500 pixels and upload it in Pinterest's pin builder, which schedules up to 30 days ahead. Pinterest's scheduler doesn't generate the image or the text for you.
