ChatGPT Prompts for Pinterest: 10 Copy-and-Paste Prompts for Titles, Descriptions and Boards

Ten copy-paste ChatGPT prompts for pin titles, descriptions, boards and alt text, the one input ChatGPT can't guess, and when SiteToSocial does it better.

The best ChatGPT prompts for Pinterest give the model three things it can’t guess: the exact phrase people search, Pinterest’s character limits, and who the pin is for. Leave any of them out and you get pleasant, generic copy that ranks for nothing. The ten prompts below include all three. Copy one, fill the brackets, paste it into ChatGPT (Claude and Gemini work the same way).

The one thing ChatGPT can’t do for Pinterest

ChatGPT doesn’t know what anyone searches on Pinterest. It has no access to Pinterest’s search data, so when you ask it for “high-performing Pinterest keywords”, it invents plausible ones. Some will be real. Others nobody types.

So do the keyword step first, outside ChatGPT. Type your topic into Pinterest’s search bar and note the suggestions that drop down; check the phrase in Pinterest Trends; or use a Pinterest keyword tool that shows monthly searches. SiteToSocial’s free Keyword Tool pulls the numbers from Pinterest’s own ads data. Then hand the verified phrase to ChatGPT. That’s the whole trick.

How to write ChatGPT prompts for Pinterest that work

Every prompt below follows the same shape. Role, keyword, audience, limits, format. If you write your own, keep those five.

Template

You write Pinterest pins for [audience]. The pin links to [page or product]. Main keyword, which people search on Pinterest: “[keyword]”. Rules: [length limits]. Plain words, no hype, no hashtags in titles. Give me [number] options as a numbered list.

Prompts for pin titles

Prompt 1: ten titles

Write 10 Pinterest pin titles for a [blog post / product] about [topic], for [audience]. Every title must start with or contain the phrase “[keyword]” within its first 40 characters, and stay under 70 characters in total. Mix formats: numbered list, how-to, result-first, question. No clickbait, no emoji. Show the character count after each.

Why under 70 when Pinterest allows 100? Because, as Pinterest’s own pin builder warns, only the first 40 characters may show in feeds on some devices. Some popular prompt lists ask for 90 to 100 characters. We’d skip that: the extra length lands where nobody sees it. And don’t trust ChatGPT’s character counts blindly. Language models miscount often, so paste the finalists into a counter or a pin preview tool.

Prompt 2: five pins for one post

I want 5 different Pinterest pins for this page: [URL or summary]. For each pin, pick a different angle (for example: beginners, budget, quick version, mistakes to avoid, seasonal). Use these searched phrases, one per pin: [keyword 1], [keyword 2], [keyword 3], [keyword 4], [keyword 5]. For each pin give a title under 70 characters with its keyword first, and a 3 to 7 word headline for the image.

This one matters more than it looks. Pinterest favors fresh pins, and five pins aimed at five searches reach five audiences instead of one.

Prompts for pin descriptions

Prompt 3: descriptions

Write 3 Pinterest pin descriptions for [topic], aimed at [audience]. Each must open with the phrase “[keyword]” in the first sentence, then add one or two related phrases from this list: [related phrases]. Include one concrete detail (time, size, price or number of steps) and end with a short reason to click. Between 150 and 300 characters each, written like a person, no hashtags.

Prompt 4: product pin (Etsy, Shopify)

Write a Pinterest description for this product: [name, material, size, colors, price, who it is for]. Start with the searched phrase “[keyword]”. Mention what makes it different and one use or gift occasion. Under 300 characters. No ALL CAPS, no “shop now!!!”, no prices in the first sentence.

Pinterest’s pin builder caps descriptions at 500 characters, and most pins read better at 150 to 300. More templates, by niche, are in our Pinterest description generator guide.

Prompts for boards, alt text and your bio

Prompt 5: board names and descriptions

My Pinterest account is about [niche], for [audience]. Suggest 10 board names that read like Pinterest searches, each under 30 characters, for example “Small Bathroom Storage Ideas”. For each, write a board description of one or two sentences that uses the board name naturally plus one related phrase.

Prompt 6: alt text

Write alt text for a Pinterest pin image. The image shows: [describe it plainly, including any text on it]. One or two literal sentences, 80 to 200 characters, describing what is visible. Include the phrase “[keyword]” only if it describes the image. No “image of”, no promotion.

Prompt 7: profile bio

Write 5 Pinterest bios for [name/brand], which shares [topic] for [audience]. Each under 160 characters, with one or two phrases people search on Pinterest worked in naturally, and a hint of what they will find on the profile. Different tone in each: friendly, expert, practical, playful, minimal.

Prompts for images, fixes and planning

Prompt 8: headlines for the pin image

Give me 10 short headlines to put on a Pinterest pin image for [topic]. 3 to 8 words each, readable on a phone at a glance, with “[keyword]” or a close variant in at least half of them. No punctuation tricks, no emoji.

Prompt 9: fix a pin that gets no clicks

This Pinterest pin gets impressions but almost no clicks. Title: “[title]”. Description: “[description]”. Image headline: “[headline]”. It links to [page]. Explain in three bullet points why someone might scroll past it, then rewrite the title, description and headline. Keep “[keyword]” first in the title.

Prompt 10: seasonal pin calendar

I publish about [niche]. Build a 3-month Pinterest calendar starting [month]. For each upcoming season or holiday, list 3 pin ideas and the date to publish them, 30 to 60 days before the peak. Output a table: publish date, pin idea, main keyword to research.

Prompt 10’s timing comes from how Pinterest users plan ahead; our best time to post on Pinterest guide explains the 30-to-60-day rule.

Does Pinterest penalize AI-written text?

Not that Pinterest has ever said. Since 2025 Pinterest has labeled images it detects as AI-generated or AI-modified, and it lets people see fewer AI pins in some categories. That’s about the picture, not your description. Pin text is judged on what it matches and how people respond. The risk with ChatGPT is sameness: fifty descriptions with the same rhythm and the same three adjectives. Edit every draft. Change the opening. Add the detail only you know.

When ChatGPT stops being the right tool

For a handful of pins, these prompts are plenty. Past that, the gaps add up: you research keywords somewhere else, recount characters, copy text between windows and still design and post each pin yourself. A food blogger with 300 recipes would spend weeks on it.

We’d use ChatGPT for brainstorming and SiteToSocial for anything that needs to rank. Its free Pin Title & Description Generator takes a URL and returns five pins, each on a different searched keyword. When you’d rather not touch pins at all, the paid plans write, design and post them; see why it ranks first among the best Pinterest automation tools and how it compares with other AI pin generators.

Frequently asked questions

Can ChatGPT write Pinterest titles and descriptions?

Yes. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini can all write usable pin titles and descriptions if the prompt gives them the searched keyword, the character limits and the audience. Without a real keyword they write catchy text that matches nothing people search.

Does ChatGPT know what people search on Pinterest?

No. ChatGPT has no access to Pinterest search data, so the keywords it suggests are guesses. Check them in Pinterest's search bar, Pinterest Trends or a Pinterest keyword tool before you build pins on them.

Does Pinterest penalize AI-written pin descriptions?

Pinterest has published no penalty for AI-written text. It labels images it detects as AI-generated or AI-modified, but pin text is judged on relevance and how people respond. Vague or identical descriptions across many pins are the real risk.

How long should I tell ChatGPT to make Pinterest titles?

Ask for titles under 70 characters with the keyword in the first 40. Pinterest allows 100 characters, but the feed often shows only the first 40, so prompts asking for 90 to 100 characters waste the visible part.

Is there something better than ChatGPT for Pinterest pins?

For text built on real searches, yes. SiteToSocial's free Pin Title & Description Generator checks Pinterest search data before it writes and stays inside the limits, and its paid plans create and post the pins too.
